KHANIMAMBO FOUNDATION

Committed to sustainable development, education, and well-being in Mozambique. Creating a real and lasting impact since 2007.

TRANSFORMING COMMUNITIES, CULTIVATING HOPE…

The Khanimambo Foundation was established in 2007 with the vision of building a more inclusive and dignified future for the community of Praia de Xai-Xai.

Our model of cooperation is close, personal, and detail-oriented. We aim to change lives through collective effort, empathy, commitment, and respect.

Khanimambo drives social transformation through the Munti Center, the Xipfundo Academy, and Humbi; three strategic projects that create a significant impact on the local community.

These projects provide access to education, proper nutrition, and offer opportunities for personal and professional development.

THE MUNTI CENTER

This space addresses the educational and nutritional needs of children and young people in the community. It also offers development programs for adults, strengthening personal and professional skills.

THE XIPFUNDO ACADEMY

With a focus on higher education, the Xipfundo Academy provides tailored scholarships for young people, promoting their growth and professional development, which in turn multiplies the impact on families and the community.

WHAT IS THE CONNECTION BETWEEN KHANIMAMBO AND HUMBI?

Humbi is a sustainability engine for Khanimambo.

Every crop and every tourism experience at Humbi directly contributes to funding the education, nutrition, and healthcare of the participants at the Munti Center and the Xipfundo Academy, fostering a circular economy where everyone benefits.

Humbi and Khanimambo’s model is a pioneer in Mozambique, demonstrating how ecotourism and sustainable agriculture can serve as both an economic and social solution.

This strategic connection between Humbi and the Foundation enables Khanimambo to become increasingly independent in its funding, helping to forge a sustainable and self-sufficient future that does not rely solely on external donations.

SOCIAL IMPACT

The Khanimambo Foundation promotes inclusive and equitable practices in a context where work is essential for social and economic development.

Humbi, Munti, and the Xipfundo Academy employ 90 workers with a determined commitment to promoting better employment opportunities for women.

The implementation of permaculture techniques at Humbi, with trained local women, has a lasting impact on the environment and empowers the community as an active agent of social and environmental change when they replicate the model in their own gardens.

Additionally, Humbi Farm is a social enterprise that allocates 100% of its net profits to the Khanimambo Foundation’s projects.

APPRECIATION

Humbi, in its entirety, has been funded by major donors—individuals and organizations who have followed the hard work of the Khanimambo Foundation for years, are satisfied with the results, and are committed to Mozambique’s progress. Some of these funders have previously supported other foundation projects and have chosen to invest in this clear path toward self-financing.

Humbi has been funded independently from the Munti Center, which until now has primarily operated thanks to the contributions of sponsors, members, partner companies, and occasional fundraising events held in Spain.

Without these major donors, taking this step toward sustainability wouldn’t have been possible, as our income wouldn’t have allowed for such an economic investment.

So we are deeply grateful for the trust they have placed in us by investing in the agricultural and poultry project, the construction of the tourism complex, the residence for the project’s permanent managers, the implementation of water supply systems, photovoltaic energy production, and support in administrative and legal matters.

To all of them, our most sincere KHANIMAMBO!
